Dog of Flanders (TV series)
Niklaas, a boy from Flanders (Japaneseフランダースの犬, Furandāsu no inu, literally " The Dog of Flanders ") is the title of a full 52-episode anime television series that was produced in 1975 by Nippon Animation. It is based on the novel The Dog of Flanders by Marie Louise de la Ramee, in which the boy Niklaas denies his life in poverty. As the second oldest series, according to Heidi, they are one of the World Masterpiece Theater.
A remake of the series with the title Flanders no Inu, Boku no Patrasche (フランダースの犬 ぼく の パトラッシュ, Furandāsu no inu: Boku no Patorasshe, GV " The Dog of Flanders: My Patrasche " ) was produced in 1992 by TMS Entertainment.
In 1997, the film Niklaas, the boy from Flanders appeared in the Japanese cinema, which was again produced by Nippon Animation. In Germany the film was also shown under the title that time in our television.

Action
Niklaas is an orphan boy who lives in a small village in the Belgian Flanders with his grandfather Jehan. Both have to work hard and deliver with their carts daily milk to Antwerp. There Niklaas sees one day a hardware dealer, who follows brutally on a dog. He wants the poor animal that has to pull the heavy loads of his master, necessarily help - but redeem him, lacking the necessary money.
In Flanders, however, there are many other problems Niklaas and his grandfather. The estate manager Hanseatic sits the two constantly in the neck and always demanded more rent for the house.
The only consolation in this period is Aneka, the daughter of the landowner. Aneka befriends with the penniless boy, even though she is rich and wealthy and her father is against the friendship. Together we succeed Niklaas and Aneka even the dog of the ironmonger who Patrasch means to save.
Amidst all the misery Niklaas has a dream: He wants to become a painter. The works of Peter Paul Rubens in the Cathedral of Antwerp have it done to him.
During the series Niklaas has with several blows of fate to be done. Aneka moves to England to go to school there, but comes again after some time. Aunt Noulette, the neighbor who had often looked after Niklaas and Jehan, continued moves in with her daughter. In her house Stienk pulls a that offers the farmers to bring their milk now free to market to Antwerp. All but one accept this offer and Niklaas loses a large part of his income. As even grandfather Jehan then dies, Niklaas is on his own. Niklaas ' friend George is in a blacksmith's apprentice and he leaves Antwerp. Meanwhile, little brother Paul gives Niklaas from goodness the duck Blacky, who was herself given to him by Aunt Noulette. The mill of Anekas father burns down and Niklaas is accused of the Hanseatic League, to have set the fire. Niklaas but is innocent; he had brought that night a doll found in the river to his girlfriend Aneka, because he thought such a beautiful doll could only be hers. On the way home at night Hanse had seen him. In reality, the mill was burnt down due to an error in the Hanse poorly maintained grinder. However, the villagers believe the Hanseatic League and Niklaas loses his job now completely, since the last farmer lets him bring his milk no longer to Antwerp.
Niklaas ' last hope is a drawing contest in Antwerp. He draws his grandfather and Patrasch and hopes the first prize, a scholarship at the Art Academy to win. He refuses even Uncle Michels from offer to move in with him before he does not know the result. But another boy, a rich young man from Antwerp, wins. Niklaas is devastated, especially since it Hanse has thrown out of the house - Niklaas could no longer afford the rent. The snow is Patrasch a bag of gold coins is one of the Anekas father. Without hesitation, Niklaas brings him to his house. It can Patrasch in the care of family and goes hungry and desperate back through the deep snow to Antwerp. Niklaas was the silver coin, it would have cost, can not afford, but it had always been his dream to see these masterpieces.
Meanwhile, everything seems to turn out well. Noel, the owner of the mill clarifies on that Hanse and Anekas father to the fire in the windmill were to blame, after which both regret that they have Niklaas done so much suffering. Uncle Michel wants to pick up Niklaas. A painter searches Niklaas, to give him lessons, because his image was the real winner and should have won. Paul, George and Aunt Noulette want to celebrate Christmas with him. Niklaas but has his little belongings for Hanse and the owed rent and left behind a suicide note. Snuggled together with Patrasch, it is in the ice-cold Christmas night in front of the pictures of Rubens in the Cathedral.
As is told in the Japanese version from the off, that both die one closes in German with a happier ending in which Niklaas and Patrasch not dead, but are merely asleep. The credits in the Niklaas and Patrasch mount up to heaven, a dream of Niklaas was merely.
Formation and Publications
TV series (1975 )
The television series was produced by the renowned Japanese animation studio Nippon Animation. Director of the comprehensive 52 part series led Yoshio Kuroda.
It was shown by Fuji TV on January 5, 1975 to December 28, 1975 for the first time on Japanese television. In 1999, the consequences in Japan were re-released on a total of 13 DVDs.
In German-speaking ORF 1 and Sat.1/PKS took the series into their programs. She was also broadcast as part of the broadcast Bim Bam Bino. KSM licensed the series in 2008 in order to publish it on DVD.
Synchronization

Flanders no Inu, Boku no Patrasche was produced in 1992 by TMS Entertainment, includes 26 episodes and was aired from 10 November 1992 to 27 March 1993, the Japanese NTV. In France, Italy and the Philippines, the series was also shown on public television.
In Germany, the series has not been published.
Film
The film Niklaas, the boy from Flanders was animated as well as the television series by Nippon Animation. The marketing of the film produced in 1997 took over the company Shochiku film. It was directed by Yoshio Kuroda, who gave the film its shape from a screenplay by Miho Maru and in cooperation with the character designer Yoshiharu Sato and the artistic director Ken'ichi Ishibashi.
For the music was taro Iwashiro committed which provided along with Sadayoshi Fujino and Tetsuo Ono, both responsible for the tone and sound effects for the background noise. For the credits of the title "When I cry" by Dianne Reeves was used.
The film was offered in Japan since August 25, 1998 to DVD. A synchronized English version was published on 7 March 2000 in the U.S., but this was reduced to 93 minutes. The original version, 104 minutes in length, was previously published with English subtitles Pioneer on VHS.
In Germany the film was released by Eagle Rock Entertainment Germany GmbH in full length on VHS. In 2002 the film was re-released on DVD. About a year later, the film (May 1, 2003 and May 16, 2005 ARD August 20, 2004 Children's Channel, ) under the title that time in our German television showed.
The film follows on the whole, the plot of the series, but sets in action a later, as the first episodes only serve to characterize. Things like the discovery of Patrasch in the meadow only occur in flashbacks. Also, persons of series such as Uncle Michel, Andras, the son of Mr. Hanse or Noel, the manager of the windmill, not before.
