Dohuk Governorate

Dahuk (Arabic دهوك, Dahuk DMG ) is a province in the north of Iraq; It borders Turkey and belongs to the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan. The capital is Dohuk. The government had since the founding of Iraq until the early 1990s, part of the province of Mosul ( Ninawa ).

During the second Gulf War in 1991, the city was occupied by the Iraqi army, which compelled the most Kurds to temporarily flee to the Turkish border.
