Dohuk SC

The Duhok Sports Club (Kurdish یانهی وهرزشی دهۆك ) is a football club based in Duhok, a half a million population city in Iraqi Kurdistan. The club was founded in 1970 won the Iraqi soccer championship in 2010.

History

The club was founded in 1970 and officially approved by the National Federation on 14 March 1972. After several years in the regional leagues of the Governments of Duhok SC in 1978 was promoted to the second division, where he stayed until 1990. Due to the non-participation in the 1991/92 season due to the political situation in Iraqi Kurdistan, the club was relegated to the fourth division in 1992, but rose after the first season back in the third and 1994 in the second league.

Since 1998, Duhok is represented in the first division of the country and was already in the second and third season respectively fifth. In recent years, the club was able to place always among the top four. During the championship season 2009/10, Dohuk prevailed in the semifinals against Al- Zawraa and won the final on September 4, 2010 at Al- Shaab stadium of the national capital, Baghdad against Al- Talaba 1-0.

The club also maintains a bastketball, volleyball, tennis and table tennis department. Furthermore, martial arts, athletics and cycling are available.
