Doina Cornea

Doina Cornea (* May 30, 1929 in Braşov ) is a Romanian anti-communist dissident and human rights activist.

Dissident during the communist regime

Doina Cornea worked as a teacher of French at the Babeş -Bolyai University of Cluj. In 1980 she released her first samizdat publication: Încercarea Labirintului ( "The test of the labyrinth " ) followed, the four Samisdatübersetzungen from the French.

Between 1982 and 1989, published Doina Cornea 31 texts and letters of protest against the Ceauşescu regime, which it sent illegally to Radio Free Europe. In 1983, she was dismissed from the university and interrogated by the Securitate, beaten and threatened with death. After the revolution of 1989, she was a member of the Council of the National Salvation Front for a short time.
