Doina Melinte

Doina Melinte (* December 27 1956 in Hudeşti, county Botosani ) is a retired Romanian middle distance runner and Olympic gold medalist.

At the European Indoor Championships in 1985, 1988 and 1990, she won the gold medal in each case more than 1500 m, where she set up at the same time at the last gold medal with a European record 4:00,27 min. On the same day it was also with 4:17,14 min on a European record in the mile run.

At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, she won the 800 - meter dash gold medal ahead of Kim Gallagher ( USA) and her compatriot Romanian Fita Lovin and the silver medal in the 1500 meter run behind Gabriella Dorio (ITA ) and before her compatriot Maricica Puica.
