Doina Rotaru

Doina Rotaru ( born September 14, 1951 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian composer.

Rotaru studied from 1970 to 1975 at the National University of Music Bucharest composition with Tiberiu Olah. She gave courses at the Gaudeamus Composers Workshop in Amsterdam (1990 and 1992) and the Darmstadt summer courses (1990, 1992 and 1994). Since 1997 she has been professor of composition at the National Music University of Bucharest.

For her compositions, she received several prizes of the Romanian Composers Union, the prize of the Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences as well as the first prize in the competition of GEDOK 1998 in Mannheim.
