Dojikko

As Dojikko (Japaneseドジっ娘) is called a Japanese, usually female character archetype, which is characterized by extreme clumsiness ( doji ). So these characters often fall down, run against standing in the way of obstacles or tripping over every little edge. Although these mishaps are aware, they always show their good side and repent of their disability.

Dojikkos usually sent to only very minor damage, but can trigger according to the domino effect, a chain reaction of accidents.

An affection for Dojikko characters is called Dojikko - Moe (ドジっ娘 萌え).

Dojikko actually refers only to female characters. A male exception is Eisuke Hondo from Detective Conan, which is explicitly designated as Dojikko, in the caseドジっ子.

Use in Manga and Anime

As a character types Dojikko have a longer tradition, even if the term took shape later. In the manga, Mahoromatic Minawa seems to know no subject about which they could not fall, and it is most of the time busy trying to apologize. Ayu from Kanon has the habit of the protagonists to run over the pile, and their excuses to tears.

In the satirical anime television series Sayonara Sensei Zetsubo the otherwise serious Chiri tries in one of the episodes as Dojikko. Hoping to receive more love from their fellow men, the attempt ends in disaster.
