Dolceacqua

Dolce Acqua is an Italian commune in the province of Imperia in Liguria with 1999 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The village is located about 10 km north of Ventimiglia in Val Nervia. The neighboring communities are Airole, Apricale, Breil -sur- Roya, Campo Rosso, Isolabona, Perinaldo, Rocchetta Nervina, San Biagio della Cima and Ventimiglia.

The village is dominated by the " Castello dei Doria ". Another famous attraction is the Ponte Vecchio di Dolce Acqua, which, although already built in the middle of the 13th century, the river Nervia in a single arch ( > 30 m) spans. Claude Monet in 1884 inspired by the bridge to a painting. He called it a " jewel of lightness ."

In the surroundings of Dolce Acqua the only noteworthy DOC red wine of Liguria also grown - Rossese of Dolce Acqua.
