Dollar imperialism

Dollar imperialism is a political slogan which was coined by the Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav M. Molotov at the beginning of the Cold War, referring to the Marshall Plan, the United States.

The Soviet Union saw the Marshall Plan, a U.S. instrument for creating a special ' sphere of influence ' in Western Europe after the Second World War. In response, the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA ) was founded.

The term dollar imperialism was first used for political action of the United States in Central America around 1912.
