History

Dollar Rent A Car was founded in 1965 in Los Angeles, California. 1990 bought the automotive group Chrysler, the company.

Under the umbrella of the Chrysler car rental, Dollar Rent A Car, Thrifty Rent A Car, Snappy Rent A Car and General Rent A Car worked together. Chrysler joined General Rent A Car in 1993 and sold the company in 1994. The leftover Dollar and Thrifty were transferred Dollar Thrifty in a independent subsidiary in 1997.
