Doll stone is a market in the west of the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt and is located in the nature park Altmuhltal at the intersection of Altmühltherme and Urdonautales.

There are the following districts: Attenbrunnmühle, width ford boys Rother mill Doll stone, Hagenacker, Eberswang, Obereichstätt, Groppenhof and Ried.
History
Prehistory
A pre-and protohistoric settlement of the area by Doll stone is demonstrated many times, for instance by findings that reveal a Hallstatt iron smelting. Through the municipal area led the important Roman road from White Castle (Great castle, market) over Treuchtlingen where a connection joined to the west, about Doll stone with a Altmühltherme ford or bridge, perhaps there was also a connection to the Danube there, continue on wet rock (market, headquarters ) to Great Mehring / Pförring where Danube transitions were. Remains of a villa rustica were found in Doll stone.
Middle Ages
In the post-Roman period there, the border area between Alemanni and Franks was ( Sualafeld ) in the west and Bavaria ( Nordgau ) in the east. The first mention Doll stone as Tolunstein located in a deed of Henry II to the monastery mountains from the year 1007. However archeology is an attachment before AD 1000 detected. 1139 was a castle owned by the Counts of Grögling, later Earl of Doll stone, then mentioned by Hirschberg. Between 1305 and 1309 it came to inheritance disputes between the Diocese of Eichstätt and the Counts of Oettingen after the extinction of the Hirschberg. The house Oettingen finally received Doll stone and sold it in 1360 to the Earl of Heideck. 1387, King Wenceslas Doll stone market rights. Even before 1401, the market attachment was built and created a new market for the castle and church. From this period seal and coat of arms of Doll stone. 1440 the site was sold to the Bishopric of Eichstätt. He was at that time the largest market town of the territory. Modern Times
During the persecution of witches in the Bishopric of Eichstätt least seven women from Doll Stone were indicted as alleged witches and sentenced to death. Five of the executions took place in 1589 and 1590, another 1603 and 1625th
In 1870 Doll Stein received a railroad connection, 1971-1978, the municipality has been reformed.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1971, part of the municipality Haunsfeld was incorporated. On 1 January 1972 was followed by the former municipalities Breitenfort and Eberswang. Obereichstätt was added on 1 May 1978.
Culture and sights
Attractions
Interesting that obtained in many parts of the city wall, which was built in the late 14th century, the parish church with their resulting 1330 Gothic frescoes and palatial parsonage are next to the castle Doll Stone (1744 probably built after plans by Gabriel de Gabrieli ). The Altortbereich with medieval structure, part of the 12th, partly from the 14th century has a number of individual monuments in the typical architectural style of the Jura house.

Natural Monuments
The charming landscape of the rock formations along the Altmühltal, the natural forest reserve Beixenhard, several dry grasslands and juniper heaths around Doll stone and the stone castle are against the boys Rother mill, one of the 100 most beautiful geotopes Bavaria.
Economy and infrastructure
Doll stone is shown as a small center ( catchment area of about 7500 inhabitants, of whom about 1550 in the village, 3000 in the community) and provides an appropriate primary care.
Tourism
21 September 2011 were the eight municipalities Doll stone, Wellheim, wet rock, Egweil, Oberhausen, castle home, Rennertshofen and Neuburg an der Donau ARGE Urdonautal, a working group whose purpose is the promotion and coordination of tourism in Urdonautal.
Traffic
Doll stone has since 1870 set a breakpoint on the Munich - Ingolstadt - Treuchtlingen - Nuremberg ( maintenance of all RB and RE). Because of the beautiful landscape and the historic railway facilities the area around Doll stone at railroad photographers is popular. In the district Obereichstätt there was also a breakpoint that was abandoned in 1985. The railway line Doll stone Rennertshofen was decommissioned in 1993 and broken down in the following years. The trail, which connects the Altmühltherme bike path from Doll stone with the Danube bike path near Rennertshofen, resulting partly on the route of the former railway line.
The secondary center of Eichstätt is located just 15 kilometers away, the southeast regional center Ingolstadt around 45 kilometers.
