Dolly Haas

Dolly Haas (real name: Dorothy Clara Louise Haas born April 29, 1910 in Hamburg, † September 16, 1994 in New York, NY) was a German and US- American actress who has worked in theater, cabaret and film.

Life and work

Dolly Haas ' parents were the Briton Charles Oswald Haas and the Viennese Margaret Hansen. Since the age of six she received ballet lessons. After her graduation she joined in Berlin on stage at various events.

Her talent as a dancer, singer and actress was quickly detected. She appeared in many revues before 1936 in 16 German feature films, in which the petite actress is often seen in trouser roles: So she goes to love command in place of her brother into the military and places as The Page by Dalmasse Hotel fraudsters.

In1936 Haas Germany and worked in the UK on. In 1938 she moved to America and became a U.S. citizen in 1940. Since film offers forthcoming, she played successfully Theatre on Broadway. Alfred Hitchcock cast her in his 1953 thriller I Confess incurred as the wife of OE Hasse.
