Dolni Dabnik
Dolni Dabnik (Bulgarian: Долни Дъбник ) is a city in northwestern Bulgaria. It lies in the Oblast Pleven, 15 km west of the city of Pleven. Dolni Dabnik is the administrative center of the homonymous municipality Dolni Dabnik.
The name of Dolni Dabnik literally means " the lower court with the oaks ." The name of the neighboring village village Dolni Dabnik literally means " the upper square with the oaks ."
Municipality Dolni Dabnik
The municipality includes the town of Dolni Dabnik, Gorni Dabnik, Barkach, Gradina, Kruschowiza, Petarniza and Sadowz. In 2005, the municipality had 15,996 inhabitants. The community was founded in 1979 and has an area of 310 km2. Partner community is Wolgodonsk (Russia). Mayor of the municipality is Borislav Stanimirow.
Geography
The city is located in the Bulgarian Danube Lowland, 40 km south of the Danube. Dolni Dabnik is known for its oil fields, of which there are very few in Bulgaria.
History
The place was first mentioned in 1430 in official Ottoman documents.
Economy
The population lives from agriculture and petroleum production and processing. The largest local company is called " Neft i Gas " ( Bulg Нефт и газ, to German: oil and gas). At 6km Petroleum Operation " Plama Pleven - " lies.
Attractions
Worth seeing in Dolni Dabnik the church " Sveti Prorok Ilija " are (Holy Prophet Elijah ) and the nearby city park Lavrov ( Loorbeerpark ), which of the fallen Russian soldiers of the Russian - Ottoman War ( 1877-1878 ) and the Battle Pleven is dedicated.
