Dolpa District

Dolpa is geographically the largest of 75 districts in Nepal. It is located in the Karnali Zone, bordered to the north by Tibet and is considered one of the remotest areas of the country; to this day it still has no road access.

Nearly half of the district is occupied with 3555 km ² of Shey Phoksundo National Park. This is located in the northern part of the district, the Dolpo region.

The population is predominantly Hindu or Buddhist; about 5 % are followers of the ancient Bon religion.
