Dolphins is an American documentary from the year 2000.

Action

The IMAX film presents the lives of wild dolphins that live in the Bahamas. A group of marine biologists ( Kathleen Dudzinski, Dean Bernal, Alejandro Acevedo - Gutiérrez, and Louis Herman and Bernd Wursig ) appeared to the animals and shows their way of life. The main focus is on the communication of animals with each other and their intelligence. Also, their feeding habits and their response to humans are presented.

Criticism

The Variety was surprised by ability of the film to elicit exuberant reactions, while the intention to give a deeper insight, it confers a permanent value.

Criticized Wesley Morris of the San Francisco Chronicle, the film will not go into the problems of pollution and fishing.

Marjorie Baumgarten of the Austin Chronicle praised the wealth of information of the film, the underwater camera work is particularly fascinating.

Awards

2001, the film was nominated in the category of Best Short Documentary Oscar.

Other nominations were for the IDA Award from the International Documentary Association and the Golden Reel of Motion Picture Sound Editors.
