Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen

Künkhyen Dölpopa Sherab Gyeltshen (Tib. kun mkhyen dol po pa shes rab rgyal mtshan; * 1292, † 1361 ) or short Dölpopa was an important lama of the Jonang tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and philosopher. Dölpopa was a student of Künpang Thugje Tsöndrü ( kun spangs thugs rje brtson ' grus, 1243-1313 ), the founder of the Jonang monastery. Under Dölpopas influence the Jonang tradition formed ( jo nang pa) in the 14th century to an independent school of Tibetan Buddhism.

He was a monk of the Sakya monastery and later the Jonang monastery. He was a Kalachakra specialist and formulated the doctrine of the Shentong ( Tib. stong gzhan ) as the first writing from, especially in his work Ri chos nges don rgya mtsho (ri chos ). He is also known as the Buddha from Dolpo ( Dol po'i Sang rgyas ).
