Dom Bosco
Dom Bosco is a comune ( município ) in Minas Gerais ( Noroeste de Minas ) in the central southeastern Brazil. It is located northeast of Paracatu and 85 km south-east of Unaí.
The municipality is situated on 610 meters, has an area of 822 km ² and about 3,500 inhabitants (2008: 3,839 2007: 3,781 2003: 3,976 ).
It was founded in 1995. Patron saint is Saint Giovanni Don Bosco (Portuguese Dom João Belchior Bosco ).
The most important economic activity is cattle farming (inventory 2006: 34,000 units) and Acherbau: cereals ( 1,700 hectares), soybeans (450 hectares), beans, rice, isolated coffee and mango. In the municipality there are about 400 farms (2006: 406), in which about 1/3 of the population is employed.
The community has 4 primary schools (2006: 826 students) and a middle school (2006: 224 students), 2 hospitals, but no bank.
The highways MG -188 and BR -251 lead to Unaí.
