Domain Awareness System

The Domain Awareness System is a surveillance system developed by Microsoft. It is designed for New York City and is to be used for terrorist and crime prevention, investigation unit and law enforcement. For this purpose the system are the videos of the 3000 surveillance cameras, 600 radiation measurement stations and about 100 ANPR equipment for disposal. The system should not use face recognition.

On August 8, 2012 by New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly has announced a partnership with Microsoft, which is used to fight crime.

New York has with Microsoft, an agreement, according to which the city will receive 30 % of the revenue when another city buys the system.
