Domenico Agostini

Domenico Agostini ( born May 31, 1825 Treviso, Italy, † December 31, 1891 in Venice ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Domenico Agostini studied theology in Treviso, then philosophy and law at Padua. He received on 26 January 1851, the ordination by the Patriarch of Venice, Cardinal Monico. From 1863 Agostini was archpriest in the cathedral chapter of Treviso, before he became in 1871 Bishop of Chioggia. Since 1877, Agostini was, until his death in 1891 the Patriarch of Venice. He was in the consistory on 27 March 1882 by Pope Leo XIII. elevated to cardinal. At the same time his titular church Sant'Eusebio was assigned. In 1886 he joined the titular church of S. Maria della Pace. After his death in 1891 Domenico Agostini was buried in the cathedral of Venice.
