Domenico Consolini

Domenico Antonio Luigi Pacifico Nicola Baldassare Consolini ( born June 7, 1806 Senigallia, † December 20, 1884 in Rome) was cardinal.

Life

Domenico Consolini was born as the fourth son of the Marchese Tommaso Consolini and his wife Angela Grappelli. He studied until 1832, first in Senigallia and then in Rome. Presumably he received at this time, the minor orders, possibly the sub-deacons and diaconal ordination. But he has never received the priesthood or consecrated bishop. In December 1832 he began as a domestic prelate of His Holiness his career at the Curia. Under Pope Gregory XVI. he held various posts at the Apostolic court and also worked as a legacy. After he. Gregor's successor Pius IX Was sent in 1846 as an agent to Perugia, he worked from 1850 as Vice President at the State Secretariat.

Pius IX. took Consolini on 22 June 1866 to the College of Cardinals. He became a member of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide and participated in the First Vatican Council. After his participation in the conclave of 1878 he was appointed by Leo XIII. appointed Lord Chancellor of the University of Rome. As of March 24, 1884 Consolini was for nine months Camerlengo, before he died at the age of 78 years.
