Domenico Jorio

Cardinal Domenico Jorio ( born October 7, 1867 in Villa San Stefano, Frosinone, Italy Province; † October 21, 1954 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Domenico Jorio studied in Rome, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy. After his ordination in 1891, he worked as a pastor in Rome and in the administration of the Vatican. In 1901 he received the title of Pontifical private chamberlain in 1914 awarded the Pontifical a domestic prelates. 1916 commissioned by Pope Benedict XV. with the care of the Roman monasteries, in 1918 he appointed him Secretary of the Statistical Office and the Under Secretary of the Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments. Pope Pius XI. certain Domenico Jorio 1928 Secretary of the Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments and 1930 as commissioner for economic affairs of the Pontifical Roman Seminary.

In 1935, he took him in as a cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Apollinare alle Terme Neroniane - Alessandrine in the College of Cardinals, and entrusted him with the management of the Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments. In 1946, he was charged while maintaining its titular church of Cardinal Priest per hac vice.

Domenico Jorio died on 21 October 1954 in Rome and was buried in the Church of St. Apollinaris.
