Domhnall II., Earl of Mar

Domhnall (also: Donald ) II of Mar (* 1302 in Saline, † August 11 1332 in the Battle of Dupplin Moore) was a Scottish nobleman of the Scottish in the Second War of Independence against the invasion of the " disinherited " fought.

Life

His father was Gartnait, Earl of Mar, his mother was Christina Bruce, sister of Robert the Bruce. After the death of Thomas Randolph, he was elected on August 2, 1332 to succeed him as Guardian of Scotland by the Scottish nobility in Perth. Just nine days later, however Domhnarr II fell in the battle of Dupplin Moor, where he led the loyal Scottish troops against the run of Edward Balliol invading army of the " disinherited " into the field.
