Domingo Liotta

Domingo Liotta ( born November 29, 1924 in Diamante, Entre Ríos, Argentina ) is an Argentine- Italian physician.

Life

Liotta's family emigrated from Italy to Argentina, where he studied medicine at the National University of Cordoba. In 1961 he went to the United States, where he was employed as a physician at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas with Michael Ellis DeBakey.

The 47- year-old patient Haskell Karp was developed by Liotta artificial heart, which was after 65 hours replaced by a natural heart. Shortly after heart transplantation died Karp.
