Dominic Muldowney

Dominic Muldowney John ( born July 19, 1952 in Southampton, England ) is a British composer.

Biography

Dominic Muldowney John studied with Jonathan Harvey at the University of Southampton and in Bernard Rands and David Blake at the University of York Music. He also took private lessons with Harrison Birtwistle. From 1974 to 1976 he worked as a composer for the Southern Arts Association. From 1976 he worked as a composer at the Royal National Theatre in London, where he replaced in 1981 Birtwistle as music director and remained until 1997. He also worked as a teacher of composition at the Royal Academy of Music.

Muldowney worked as a composer both for the theater and for film and television. He was known especially for the music on films such as 1984 and Bloody Sunday and, together with John Tams for the film series The snipers. In addition, he also composed classical music and arranged occasional songs for musicians such as David Bowie and Sting.
