Dominic Schram

Dominic Schramm, baptismal name Jacob Andreas ( born October 24, 1723 in Bamberg, † September 21, 1797 in Kloster Banz ) was a Benedictine and theologian.

Life

He was the son of the choirmaster of the Upper parish in Bamberg, Andreas Schramm. He resigned on October 8, 1742 in the monastery of Banz, the profession he passed on November 12, 1743. He received the religious name " Dominicus ". After ordination in 1748, he worked as a teacher at the convent school in mathematics, canon law, philosophy and theology. From 1782 to 1787 he was prior of the monastery Michel mountain in Bamberg. With Placidus Sprenger he was a representative of the Enlightenment in Banz.

His main areas of work were canon law ( church law), canon law and patristic sources. He became known as canon and his works have been launched several times in the 19th century.
