Dominican Green-and-yellow Macaw

The Dominica Macaw (Ara atwoodi ) is an extinct macaw species, exclusively by a description of the historian Thomas Atwood († 1793) in his book A History of the Iceland of Dominica from 1791 is known. According to Atwood's description, this macaw was colored green and yellow. Between the eyes and the beak root a flesh-colored cheek region was recognized. His reputation was said to be an unpleasant shouting. In addition, he has been described as sought-after wild game ( both for use as a pet as well as food). It was probably wiped out by overhunting.
