Domitia Decidiana ( † after 98) was a Roman noblewoman of the first century AD

Life

Domitia Decidiana was probably the daughter of originating from the Gallia Narbonensis Senator Titus Domitius Decidianus and by 62 AD, the wife of the returned just from Britain, Gnaeus Julius Agricola, Roman senator († 93 AD). She traveled with her husband, when taken him administrative or military obligations in various provinces of the empire. From the happy couple had two ( in the years 63 and 83 AD was born, but died already as infants) sons and a daughter Iulia Agricola (* AD 64 ) shows that the Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus 77 AD AD married. In his will, Agricola appointed his wife, his daughter and the emperor Domitian to heirs. Domitia Decidiana was still alive when Tacitus 98 AD, a biography of his late father wrote, which is also the only source of her life.
