Domus de Janas

Domus de Janas (German houses of the fairies ), also referred to as " Necropolis ipogeica " means a genus of rock-cut tombs in Sardinia, which are attributed to Ozieri culture. There are on the island more than 1,000 of them lying together in groups of five to 40.

Shaping

The oldest form are small, about one cubic meter cubical chambers with slightly bulging walls and well- rounded edges which lie in vertical rock areas. They were closed with a plate that was often in a real context. You are undecorated and very spectacular. Later veritable cliff dwellings were built, or created by extension. The bull's horns with some of ornate plants were used until the beginning of Nuraghen. Some are working with long Dromoi into the flanks of hills ( Filigosa in Macomer ). A presumably original and undisturbed since the initial field plant at Iglesias Carbonia -Iglesias province barg 35 skulls that were separated on the other bones.

A variant of the Domus de Janas are vertical mastabaartig worked in the underground shafts with egg-shaped chambers, as they occur on the Sinis Peninsula in Cuccuru S'Arriu and are referred to as oven tombs.
