Domvallier

Domvallier is a commune with 122 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in Lorraine. It belongs to the district Neufchâteau, the Canton of Mirecourt and community association Pays de Mirecourt.

Geography

The municipality is located in the southeast of Domvallier Xaintois, about 35 kilometers north- west of Epinal. The landscape around Domvallier is hilly and dominated by grain fields. With the Bois du Bas de Puits, the municipality in the south of an approximately 20 -acre portion of a forest area. This is achieved with 377 m above sea level, the highest point in the community.

Just south of the village center leads the Cochon in the Val d' Arol, a tributary of the Madon. In the far north of the municipality of Airport Epinal Mirecourt follows, that of the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Vosges ( Chambre de commerce et d'industrie des Vosges ) is operated. Parts of the commercial area of the aerodrome ( slaughterhouse, go-kart track ) lying on the territory of the municipality Domvallier.

Neighboring communities of Domvallier are Juvaincourt in the north, Puzieux in the northeast, Ramecourt the southeast, Mirecourt in the southeast, Thiraucourt in the south and Baudricourt in the West.

History

The place was first mentioned in the 12th century as Domviliacum. Over the centuries the spelling on le fiei de Donvaleir, Curatus de Dompno Valerio, Dompvalier, Donvalier, Donvalley and Dompavillier eventually changed to Domvallier. In the Ancien Régime Domvallier belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt. The parish was part of the Deanery of the Diocese of Toul Poussay within. The first school building in the village was founded in 1848. Instead of the old dilapidated chapel, a new church was built from 1857 to 1859. Parts of the old chapel found in the construction of the sacristy use. The donations for the church were no longer sufficient for a spire. A renewed attempt in the period between the world wars, set up a Spire, failed because of the statics of the substructure.

Economy and infrastructure

Agriculture continues to play a role ( grain and fodder production, slaughterhouse ) in Domvallier. Acquisition opportunities the commercial area on Epinal Mirecourt Airport - as well as industrial and service companies in the near Mirecourt. The partially -developed two-lane expressway (D 166) of Epinal Mirecourt after about Neufchâteau bypasses Baudricourt in the south with two terminals southwest and southeast of the village center. A road link is also in the neighboring community Thiraucourt.
