Don Archibald

Don Archibald (* 1907 in Vancouver ) was a Canadian football player with the Canadian national soccer team to several months of touring took part in 1927 to New Zealand and it came to four international appearances.

Career

Archibald played in Vancouver for the team the Vancouver High School before he came to Vancouver North Shore. Archibald said to be a huge shot faster and with both feet forward, who distinguished himself as a regular scorer in league and cup competitions. In 1931, he scored two goals for North Shore 's 4-2 win against the Regents in the final of the Cup Mainland of British Columbia. In the same year he met a local selection ( Nanaimo ) at a 2:8 defeat against a touring team of the English Football Association.

1927 took Archibald was one of four players from British Columbia on a tour to New Zealand in part. It was the fourth major tour of a Canadian football team after two trips through the UK (1888 and 1891/1892 ) and 1924 to Australia when they toured for the first time in New Zealand. The team put in May, in Victoria and returned after three months on August 22 back to Canada. Overall, the Canadian team played 22 games in New Zealand, of which won 19 and lost only two. Four of those games took place between June 25 and July 23 held against the New Zealand National Team that count as an official A- international matches. Archibald ran in these four games each as a center forward, and in the second encounter scored a goal in a 2-1 victory and carried in the last pairing with two hits for a 4-1 success.
