Don Barber

Career

Barber played initially between 1981 and 1983 in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Kelowna Buckaroos and 1983 to 1984 for the St. Albert Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He then moved away to college, where he ran aground from 1984 to 1988 for the Bowling Green State University. The right winger had already been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1983 by the Edmonton Oilers in the sixth round at 120th position, but before he ever played a game for them, they gave his transfer rights in December 1985 to the Minnesota North Stars from.

The North Stars committed the Canadians prior to the 1988/89 season and put him at the beginning of the International Hockey League with the Kalamazoo Wings. However, in the course of the season, he played his first games in the NHL for Minnesota. He spent also the following season both in the NHL from in the IHL. Shortly after the beginning of the season 1990/91 the North Stars Barber transferred to the Winnipeg Jets, where he remained for the rest of the season.
