Don Edmunds

Donald "Don" Edmunds ( born September 23, 1930 in Santa Ana ) is a retired American race car driver.

Formula 1

Don Edmunds started once in his career in a race for the world championship of Formula 1 It started on May 30, 1957 at the 500 miles of Indianapolis - this race was one between 1950 and 1960 for the World Cup - on a Kurtis Kraft 500 - Offenhauser and fell into lap 170 after a spin out. 1958 ended his Rennkariere after a serious accident during training in Indianapolis.

Don Edmunds founded the Auto Research Inc. in Anaheim specializing in the construction of Midget Cars. Its chassis won several National Midget Championships in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1991, he was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.
