Don Grusin

Henri Donald "Don" Grusin ( born April 22, 1941 in Denver, Colorado) is an American pianist and keyboard player of the fusion and smooth jazz, in which he incorporated Latin elements.

Grusin has grown up as the son of a violinist with classical music; his older brother is the jazz pianist Dave Grusin. Don Grusin studied economics and then worked at the University of Colorado and at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México as a lecturer. He also occasionally played in clubs with itinerant musicians like Gary Burton and Zoot Sims. In 1972 he moved with the musicians of the fusion band Azteca to California and decided after a tour of Japan with Quincy Jones for being a professional musician. In Los Angeles he worked from 1976 with musicians such as Lee Ritenour, Diane Schuur, Eric Marienthal, Abe Laboriel, Milt Jackson, Joe Pass, Sadao Watanabe, Patti Austin, Stanley Turrentine or Casiopea. In 1981, he released his first album, which includes many more albums followed. For the album " Musician", which he produced in 1985 for Ernie Watts, he received a Grammy Award as a producer. Grusin works primarily as a producer and runs the label "Bad Dog Music " which is also a studio is connected.
