Don LaFontaine
Donald Leroy LaFontaine ( born August 26, 1940 in Duluth, Minnesota, † September 1, 2008 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American spokesman of movie trailers. He was famous for having spoken more than 5,000 trailers and 350,000 television commercials.
Career
LaFontaine worked at the United States Army as a sound engineer for the music corps. After completing his military service, he worked at a recording studio in New York. In 1964 he was hired by Metro -Goldwyn -Mayer as a voice-over announcer. In the 1970s, he worked exclusively for Paramount Pictures and was promoted to Vice President. Beginning of the 1980s made LaFontaine again independently. Since that time, he said, up to 60 Einspieler a day, and was considered one of the most sought after speaker in the United States.
LaFontaine died 68 years old at the consequences of a collapsed lung.
