Don Murray (clarinetist)

Don Murray ( born June 7, 1904 in Joliet, Illinois, † June 2, 1929 in Los Angeles ) was an American musician (clarinet, saxophone) of the Chicago jazz.

Life and work

Don Murray attended high school in Chicago. Even in his youth he became known as a jazz clarinetist and saxophonist, 1923, he took up with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings; Murray was not a regular member of the band, but increased again at a Sessions. More shots were with Jack Pettis and Bix Beiderbecke ( 1924).

Murray had then, even when shooting from Muggsy Spanier and belonged to the band of Jean gold chain that occurred in Detroit. He remained in Gold Kettes band until 1929; after a brief stint in Adrian Rollinis band belonged to Murray at the Orchestra by Ted Lewis, in the then Jimmy Dorsey and Benny Goodman played. Murray also had an appearance on Ted Lewis' Movie Is Everybody Happy? ( 1929).

Don Murray died in 1929 in a hospital in Los Angeles following a traffic accident.
