Don Scott (boxer)

Donald E. " Don " Scott ( born July 23, 1928 in Derby, † February 13, 2013 ) was a British boxer in the light heavyweight division.

Amateur

Scott won in 1948 at the Olympic Games in London, the silver medal in the light heavyweight division. In the final he was defeated by South Africans George Hunter.

Professional

1950 Scott was professional. Like his first fight against his countryman Ray Wilding he lost on 4 April 1950 in London by TKO in the fifth round. In 1951 he had a series of six knockout victories. On February 16, 1953, he fought for the vacant title of British Midland Area champion at light heavyweight against Ted Morgan. His last professional fight, a points victory after eight rounds, he completed on April 13, 1953 against his fellow countryman Wally Curtis.
