Don Tum District

Amphoe Don Tum ( Thai: อำเภอ ดอนตูม ) is a district ( Amphoe ) of the province ( Changwat ) Nakhon Pathom. The Nakhon Pathom province is located in the middle of Central Thailand.

Etymology

" Don " and " Tum ", the Thai term for an " increased lying place that is not exposed to floods ," a sign that this problem did not occur even in the past.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe are from clockwise from the north: the Amphoe Bang Len, Nakhon Chai Si, Nakhon Pathom and Kamphaeng Saen Mueang. All districts are located in the province of Nakhon Pathom.

History

Mueang Tum was an ancient city during the Srivijaya kingdom. The first official name of the district was initially Sam Kaeo, later he got the name Kamphaeng Saen.

The district Don Tum was on January 1, 1966 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by seven Amphoe Kamphaeng Saen from Tambon were separated. On March 12, 1969, he got the full Amphoe status.

Management

The district Don Tum is divided into eight subdistricts (tambon ), which in turn in 68 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

Sam Ngam ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สามง่าม ) has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon), it consists of the same whole tambon.

The remaining seven Tambon be of Tambon Administration Organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) managed.
