Don Walsh

Don Walsh ( born November 2, 1931) is an American oceanographer.

On January 23, 1960, he explored as a first lieutenant in the United States Navy with Jacques Piccard the Mariana Trench. The bathyscaphe "Trieste " she brought to 10,911 m depth ( Triestetief - originally measured 10,916 m, the value was later corrected). This deep-diving record is still valid today.

More than 30 years was engaged in the exploration of the seas Walsh. After completion of the Military Academy in 1954, he entered into active naval service, he left with the rank of naval captain.
