Donald Phillip Verene

Donald Phillip Verene ( * 1937 ) is an American philosopher and professor at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Verene doctorate in 1964 at the Washington University and was a 1982-1988 Dean of the Department of Philosophy at Emory University. His work focuses on the culture of philosophy and metaphysics, the relationship of philosophy to literature and rhetoric, as well as historically the German idealism and the Italian humanism. Verene has been doing particularly concerned with Ernst Cassirer, Hegel and Vico. He has published on the 12 books and 200 articles.

2002, a Festschrift was published under the title Philosophy and Culture: Essays in honor of Donald Phillip Verene (ed. Glenn Alexander Magee, Philosophy Documentation Centre).
