Donald S. Fredrickson

Donald S. Fredrickson ( born August 8, 1924 in Cañon City, † June 7, 2002 in Bethesda, Maryland) was a physiologist and described in 1961 as the first Tangier disease. In addition to numerous other outstanding functions he held from 1975 to 1981, the Office of the Director of the National Institutes of Health ( NIH). In 1978 he was awarded a Gairdner Foundation International Award. According to him, the classification of primary hyperlipoproteinemia is named.
