Donald Stevens

Donald Stevens ( born September 22, 1963 in Rossland, British Columbia) is a former Canadian alpine skier.

Career

Closed early age, Stevens at the ski club based in his hometown of Red Mountain Racers. His talent and potential for alpine skiing showed up early. He was a member of the ski team of the province of British Columbia and participated successfully in the Canadian championships and race the Nor -Am series.

In 1985 he was appointed to the Canadian National Ski Team, in which a new generation of downhillers was set up with a view to be discharged at home Winter Olympics under the aegis of the former Austrian downhill coach Heinz Stohl in succession of the so-called Crazy Canucks.

In his first year went Stevens in March 1985 at the World Cup downhill in Furano in Japan in the points. A year later, he won 15 more World Cup points on the descent to Whistler with rank. In the same year he was Canadian champion in the downhill. With a single place in the top ten in the pre-Olympic season Stevens was then but in the shadow of his teammate Rob Boyd, Brian Stemmle and Felix Belczyk. Although he managed to jump into the Canadian Olympic team, but he was only allowed to compete in the Competition, in which as the best Canadian Rank 19 achieved.

Immediately after the end of the Olympic race he scored within nine days at the double downhill in Beaver Creek and at the World Cup finals in Åre three placings in the top ten, including ranked 2nd in the downhill of 12 March 1988, the only podium finish of his career in the World Cup.
