Donau Zentrum
The Danube center (until 2009 Danube center; short DZ ) is a shopping mall in the 22nd district of Vienna Danube city. With the connected to the Danube Donau Plex center (DX ) it is the largest shopping center of Vienna and Entertainment Center ( Urban Entertainment Center).
History
The center was opened in 1975 with 22,800 m², today's sales area is 100 750 m². On a total area of approximately 225,000 m² ( DZ and DX) there are over 260 retail, dining and entertainment establishments. The Danube center has been expanded several times since 1975. From 2009 until October 2010, it was expanded and rebuilt. The new, opened in October 2010 component includes over 60 new stores, bringing with 28,000 m² one-third of additional retail space. The mid-October opened, 38 meter high sculpture Sunbeam is designed to complement the raindrops paint on the outer wall of the Danube Südteiles center. The front center of the Danube opposite the Kagran subway station was lined with LED Plan, whereby the entire headboard can change its color.
Unibail -Rodamco invested around 105 million euros in the expansion of the Danube center, 45 million flow into the modernization of the existing shopping center. For the architectural appearance of the new center, the Danube is responsible for retail properties specialist London firm of architects Dunnett Craven and the Vienna Planning office of the architect and master builder Franz Riedl.

Owner is the Franco- Dutch property company Unibail -Rodamco, the largest listed real estate investment and management company in the European retail sector has taken over in 2003, 90 % of the shares on the Danube center and the Danube Plex by the family Breiteneder to 270 million euros. Since 1982 has the year of around 20 million visitors and 2,500 employees frequented center a direct connection to the underground line U1. The shopping center can also be reached by tram line 25 and the Vienna city bus lines 26 A, 27 A, 93 A, 94 A.
In the center of the Danube there are currently 146 stores ( 120 stores, 13 service outlets and 13 catering establishments ), in the Danube Plex further 27 farms ( four stores, 21 dining establishments, a multiplex cinema and a nightclub ) are available. Total are 1,330 parking spaces available which can be used 3 hours free in the Danube and Danube center Plex. Since the renovation, there are approximately 3,000 parking spaces more.
