Dongfanghong program
Dong Fang Hong ( DFH abbreviation; Chinese东方 红/东方 红, Pinyin Dongfang hóng, The East is Red ') refers to a type of Chinese communications satellite. The program started in 1970. Satellites of this series were transported both in low Earth orbit and in geostationary orbit. They served as a test satellite for remote control, telecommunications, meteorology and scientific studies. While most Chinese satellites carry the name Dong Fang Hong with an additional numbering, scattered satellites are also a part of Asiasat or Apstar series.
