Dongo, Lombardy

Dongo is a small town with 3444 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Como, Lombardy region.

The village lies on the northwestern shore of Lake Como. The area of ​​the municipality consists of 7 km ². The patron saint of the town is Santo Stefano. Here Mussolini, who was trying to escape in a German troop transport to Switzerland at the end of the Second World War, was recognized and arrested by partisans.

Neighboring municipalities are Colico ( LC), Consiglio di Rumo, Garzeno, Germasino, Musso, Pianello del Lario and Stazzona.
