Donna Jo Napoli

Donna Jo Napoli ( born February 28, 1948 in Miami) is an American professor of linguistics and author of children 's literature.

Life

Napoli studied Linguistics, General Linguistics, Italian literature and mathematics. At Harvard University, she laid in 1970 bachelor's degree in mathematics from, received in 1971 the MA in Italian literature and earned a Ph.D. in 1973 in linguistics. After various teaching activities, she worked at the University of Michigan from 1980 to 1987, where she was appointed professor in 1984 Ordinary (Full). Since 1987 she is a professor of linguistics at Swarthmore College in Philadelphia, where she also offers classes in creative writing.

In addition to numerous publications in their field of expertise, she writes children 's books, short stories, poetry and essays. For their successful children 's books, she received a number of awards. Many of her books have been translated into several languages, some have also been published in German.

Napoli, whose ancestors come from Venice, itself has five children and lives with her family in Swarthmore, USA.
