Donna Tartt

Donna Tartt ( born December 23, 1963 in Greenwood, Mississippi) is an American novelist.

Life

Donna Tartt grew up in Grenada ( Mississippi). She studied at the University of Mississippi and at Bennington College in Vermont.

The work on her first novel, The Secret History Tartt began in 1982 during her second year in Bennington. My fellow student Bret Easton Ellis suggested to her collaboration with the literary agent Amanda Urban and thus paved the way for the success of the novel, which was published in 1992 and was promoted to the worldwide, translated into 24 languages ​​bestseller. My advance was $ 450,000 and was one of the highest paid at that time; the book sold five million copies.

In the center of her third novel, published in 2013, the goldfinch is the eponymous painting by the Dutch painter Carel Fabritius.
