Biography

Vekić was born in 1996 in a family of athletes Osijek. Even her grandmother was a physical education teacher and discovered talents like Davor Šuker. Vekićs mother Brankica (born Špiranović ) was athlete. My father's name is Igor. She has a younger brother, Bruno.

At the age of six years Vekić tennis started playing before they trained with nine in the academy of Nick Bollettieri in Florida. Already at the age of eleven she had an agent. She has since worked in England with David Felgate, who coached Tim Henman. As a favorite surface they are on the hard court.

Career

2010 played Vekić in Croatia their first tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit. Your first achievements came in 2011 when they won there a single and a double title.

In February 2012 Vekić celebrated their first victory for Croatia in the match against Anita Husarić in Fed Cup. In September 2012 she reached in Tashkent at the age of only 16 years - as the youngest player Tamira Paszek since 2006 - at their first participation in the main draw of a WTA tournament the final, which she lost to Irina -Camelia Begu 4:6, 4:6. Vekić then joined the qualification for the U.S. Open at a Grand Slam tournament for the first time with the ladies (the first three Grand Slam tournaments of the year had even denied as a junior ), where she was eliminated in round three. She won two more ITF tournaments and finished at the end of the year ranked 118 in the world rankings.

In January 2013 Vekić reached for the first time the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. She pulled at the Australian Open as the youngest participant in the second round one, in which they set the number to 10 former world ranking first Caroline Wozniacki 1:6, 4:6 had to admit defeat. After that, she was first out of the 100 top ranked players in the world rankings, they finished the season ranked 95th She was thus the youngest player in the Top 100
