Donnerhall

Donnerhall ( born May 31, 1981, † 14 January 2002) was a German dressage horse. Donnerhall was not only as a sport horse extremely successful, but also as a breeding stallion.

Life and achievements

Donnerhall was bred by Otto gardener and was sold as a foal to Otto Schulte- Frohlind. He successfully took part in numerous international dressage competitions at Grand Prix level part. Donnerhall was a son of thunder out of the mare Ninette by Markus - Carnot.

His dressage career began in 1984, when he finished his stallion performance test in Adelheitsdorf as reserve champion with 131.92 points. Donnerhall, further trained by Herbert and Karin Rehbein was very easy to train and reached within only two years Grand Prix level. He was particularly known for his expressive passage, piaffe and his extended trot.

Donnerhall won with his rider Karin Rehbein over 65 Grand Prix competitions; he was in 1986 German DLG Champion in Hanover, winner of team gold and individual bronze medal at the World Equestrian Games in 1994 in The Hague and at the European Championships in Verden in 1997. during the World Equestrian Games in Rome in 1998, his last tournament, he won team gold and reached the fourth place in the individual standings. He was also elected Oldenburg Stallion of the Year 1998.

At the age of 17 years Donnerhall 1998 was adopted at the Oldenburg licensing solemnly from the sport.

He died in 2002 from an acute intestinal intoxication.

In June 2007, a bronze statue of the stallion was erected in the Oldenburg pedestrian zone near the Lappan. It weighs about 700 kilograms and was designed by Walter Hilpert from Dresden. His plaster model was cast between May and June 2007 from the metal foundry Harms in the Emsstraße in pieces, welded together, soldered and machined with patina.

Progeny

Donnerhall sired 77 licensed sons and 450 mares. His descendants achieved on numerous auctions top prices. Among his most successful progeny include Olympic and World Championship participants, champion stallions and premium mares. Some of his most famous descendants are the mare Primavera and the stallions Don Schufro, Davignon, Don Primero De Niro, Jack Donner, Don Gregory, Donnerschwee, Don Frederico and thunder ball. All horses of the German dressage team at the Summer Olympic Games 2012 go to thunder back: Damon Hill ( Donnerhall son ), Desperados ( grandson) and Diva Royal ( granddaughter) " reeve " ( Donnerhall son ).
