Donovan

Donovan ( born May 10, 1946 in Glasgow, Scotland as Donovan Phillips Leitch ) is a British singer- songwriter, guitarist and composer initially in particular in the field of folk music; and later included influences of rock, pop, psychedelic rock music and jazz.

Life

Donovan had to have his first success in 1964 published in the TV show " Ready Steady Go" without a plate. He had his first hit in 1965 with the folk ballad Catch the wind, the Reinhard Mey recorded under the pseudonym Rainer May as " Go and catch the wind." The single reached the third place in the UK Singles Chart. Other successes of 1965 brought the song Colours, Turquoise and The Universal Soldier, and the last was originally developed by the Canadian folk singer Buffy Sainte -Marie.

Influenced by Bob Dylan - initially he was sometimes referred to as Dylan impersonator - and from the British folk scene to guitarists such as Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, Donovan initially played almost exclusively acoustic folk; In 1966 he expanded his musical range by he incorporated rock elements into his own compositions. In various music productions Donovan had two subsequent members of Led Zeppelin formation, founded in 1969, namely with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, as arrangers and studio musicians. Reception

The song Atlantis was in Fringe Episode 9 of the 5th Season ( while Walters LSD dream ) to hear in the movies Goodfellas 1990 The Girl Next Door 2004 and 2010.   • Appearance at the benefit concert "Change Begins Within" the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness - Based Education and World Peace on 4 April 2009 at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, including with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper, Eddie Vedder and Moby.
