Donzy
Donzy is a commune with 1613 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nièvre in the Burgundy region. It belongs to the district Cosne- Cours- sur -Loire and Canton Donzy. The city is situated on the banks of the river Nohain.
History
First traces of Donzy can be found in the 6th century under the name Dominiacus. In the Middle Ages Donzy center of a barony and one of the most important fief in Burgundy. Through the marriage of Hervé IV de Donzy with Matilda of Courtenay, heiress of the county of Nevers, the barony was combined with Nevers.
